Finally: some Carburator-Data
Hej William,
here now some more information for you and your car.
I translated some technical data which were sent to me by a friend.
It would be helpful to know which engine version your car has, the following technical data refer to the "German" engine version "YN" (75HP).
But there was also a "Swedish" engine called "FS" (72HP).
Ignition timing is 0 degrees TDC at 900 to 1000 rev/min, vacuum hose on.
CO content at idling is 0.7 to 1.3Prozent, maybe even more for smooth operation.
Dwell angle 44 - 50 degrees (47 +/- 3) or 50 - 56Prozent
As I said before, this referrs to the "YN" engine, but maybe it is helpful for you.
Another hint he gave me: check the vacuum hose at the intake manifold, it gets porous and then there's a terrible engine behavior.
You may also take a look at "www.passat-kartei.de". Under "Technikwissen"/"Motoren"/"Typ32/33" in the menu you´ll find some more data for different engine types (early Passat engines were the same as those in the Audi 80).
So much for today,
good luck with your car !
Regards,
Sven and Sabine
